Why are your product packaging always complained about? The problem may lie here

17 Apr 2025

In the manufacturing industry, packaging is often regarded as the "last link of the product", but in fact, it carries far more functions than that.
The quality of product packaging not only affects transportation safety and shelf display effects, but also directly affects consumers' first impressions and repurchase decisions.
What makes many manufacturers headache is that even if they continue to optimize the process and formula, their products still frequently encounter customer complaints due to "packaging problems":
"The seal has cracked before the bag is opened"
"When the goods arrived, they were all broken and the powder was scattered all over the box"
"The packaging is wrinkled and looks cheap, not like new goods"
"The combination pack is misplaced and the wrong flavor is packed, so it can't be given away"

These seemingly trivial problems hide technical risks in the packaging process.

01|Most packaging problems are not "human errors" but insufficient system coordination
Many companies' first reaction is "did the operator not follow the process?" "Is the film material of poor quality?"
But in the customer cases served by Maike Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. in the past, more than 70% of packaging complaints are actually caused by unreasonable equipment configuration or uncoordinated optimization of the packaging system.

Common reasons include:

The sealing temperature setting does not match the heat sealing point of the film material, resulting in loose sealing or false sealing, and easy to break the package during transportation;

Lack of material sorting equipment, random accumulation of products into the packaging machine, resulting in skewed bag shape or pressure on the seal;

The stretching tension of the packaging film is not automatically adjusted, which is easy to deviate, wrinkle, and affect the molding effect;

The accuracy of manual boxing or weighing is unstable, resulting in wrong product loading, missing or high breakage rate;

There is no standardized process for switching between multiple specifications, and the packaging efficiency is low and prone to errors.

These problems cannot be solved by a single link, but require whole-line linkage optimization from the system level.

02|"Packaging system engineering" is the key to solving complaints
More and more manufacturing companies are beginning to realize that the packaging process should not be viewed as a single machine task in isolation, but as a "packaging system engineering".

The links involved include but are not limited to:

Product sorting

Automatic weighing/packaging

Packaging molding/sealing

Coding and labeling

Automatic detection

Automatic boxing

Take Maike Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. as an example. It provides customized whole-line solutions for many food and daily chemical brands. Through automatic material sorting, film material adaptation and debugging, packaging machine parameter adjustment, visual boxing and other means, it has significantly improved the packaging qualification rate.
